SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — UPDATE 9/19/22 5:45p.m.: Sand Springs Police now say Logan Childers has also been released from the hospital. The 16 year old was released around 4:30 p.m. Monday after being there since Sept. 15.


A Sand Springs student is out of the hospital and another still remains after being involved in a crash that killed three other students on Thursday, police said.

Sirrah Mathews, 16, is out of the hospital and Logan Childers, 16, is still in the hospital, said Sand Springs Police Capt. Jody Fogleman Saturday.

“Both are alive and well,” Fogleman said.

Five Charles Page High School students were involved in a single-car accident during lunch time, less than a mile from campus.

Ethan Gibson, 17, Cyra Saner, 16, and Kylee Weaver, 16, died at the scene, police said. Mathews and Childers were taken to the hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation but police did say speed was a factor.

The family of Ethan Gibson has also set up a Facebook donation page to help with funeral costs.
