TULSA, Okla. — Update: Tulsa Police have identified the suspect in Tuesday’s deadly shooting in North Tulsa.
According to the Tulsa Police Department, Carlton Gilford walked into the Rudisill Library near Pine and Hartford. Once he was inside, he walked up behind a man and shot him in the back of the head.
He was later taken to the hospital where he died from injuries.
Officers say Gilford then drove down the street to a QuikTrip near Pine and Peoria. Once inside, he shot a male in the back of the head. Once the male fell, Gilford shot him a second time. This victim died inside the store.
Witnesses said Gilford shot another time inside the store, but no one was hurt.
Gilford was standing outside the QuikTrip when officers arrived. He admitted to shooting two people, and it appeared that he suffered from a self-inflicted wound.
He was taken to the hospital and will be booked after receiving treatment.
Update: Tulsa police said the second shooting victim died from his injuries.
Tulsa Police responded to a shooting at Rudisill Library near Pine and Peoria around 9:30 AM, Tuesday.
Witnesses say a man walked into the library and shot a man in the back of the head.
The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The suspect then drove to the Quik Trip across the street, which was full of customers.
Officers say the suspect went inside QT and shot another man in the back of the head.
When the victim fell to the ground, the suspect shot him again. The man died on the scene.
According to witnesses, the suspect fired at least one more shot, but no one was hit.
TPD was in the area and quickly took the suspect into custody. He was transported to a hospital with a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He will be booked into jail when he recovers.
No names have been released.
Rudisill Library will be closed until Monday.
