How you can help: Six girls killed in Tishomingo car accident

How you can help the families in Tishomingo who lost their six girls in a car accident

TISHOMINGO, Okla. — The Tishomingo community is mourning six teenage girls who died in a car accident Tuesday afternoon.

“Tishomingo Strong” is painted all throughout the downtown area. Tishomingo High School placed six bouquets with the girls’ names placed outside the front door. There’s also a growing memorial at the crash scene.

Johnston County Chamber of Commerce provided lunch for students today. The district also had therapy dogs and other resources. Misty Chapman with the chamber said that was for students, staff and the community.

The chamber is looking for people who can donate their homes, campers or Airbnbs for families of the girls to stay in while they attend funeral services. The nearest hotel to Tishomingo is about 40 miles away.

Ameristate Bank has an account opened for donations. Proceeds will be divided up among the six families. Chapman also told FOX23 funeral costs are paid for.

Oklahoma-native country music star Blake Shelton’s ranch is near Tishomingo. He commented on the tragedy Wednesday afternoon:

“In the wake of yesterday’s unthinkable crash in our small town of Tishomingo, we as a community have all been in shock and broken hearted. I personally know the devastation of suddenly losing a loved one in a car accident. But our community is strong and has come together to support and wrap our arms around the families and friends that are hurting the most. There’s no question it will take a long time to heal from this tragedy. Keep the prayers coming.”
