BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Broken Arrow officials are hoping a new inflatable water park is going to make waves in the local economy.

The inflatables at H20 Aqua Park are up and ready ahead of its opening next weekend.

The city hopes it will bring a lot of visitors into the area.

It’s been developed by a Green Country family that also run around 30 other water parks including the biggest one in the U.S. in Wichita.

They say they’re really excited to be bringing this to Oklahoma and Broken Arrow officials say they hope this will help economic development in south Broken Arrow.

The new inflatable water park has swings, slides, monkey bars and giant obstacles.

“We’ve got a nice assortment of different things,” said Co-Owner and General Manager of the park Scott Hager. “We’ve got our sky rocket over there … it looks like a sling shot, but it’s not. It’s a swing with … different connecting pieces that kids and adults can run through.”

It’s called the H2O Inflatable Aqua Park, and it opens next Friday, May 27, for Memorial Day Weekend.

“It’s fun for kids, but even for the adults,” Hager continued. “It’s a blast honestly. The best part is watching everybody go through it, and trying to keep a straight face and not laughing at the same time.”

It’s on a 4 acre pond at Graves Scout Reservation.

The water is 15 feet at its deepest. The inflatables are anchored down, and there’s going to be lifeguards, safety rules and lifejackets in place.

“Safety will be our biggest concern,” Hager told FOX23. “We’ll have a lifeguard for every 25 people. So every time someone’s out there they can expect to have a blast but also be safe while they’re doing it.”

City officials are hoping it will give a boost to the local economy too.

Steve Yoder is Broken Arrow Business Retention and Extension Co-Ordinator.

Yoder said it could inject hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy.

“This is the only one that’s anywhere close in the state of Oklahoma, so we do expect visitors from outside absolutely,” Yoder explained. “Again, it helps other businesses … these people are going to have to eat somewhere, and they’re going to have to go shop somewhere when they’re done. That’s where the excitement just keeps building for the city.”

The park will charge by the hour and limit the attendance to 200 people per hour. There will be lifeguards on duty, and everyone in the park will be required to wear a life jacket. Restroom facilities are on-site. Kona Ice and a rotation of food trucks will also be available.

There are 88 parking spots at the Jack Graves Scout Reservation. Splash Aqua Park has an agreement with NSU-BA to allow the use of their parking lot for overflow parking if needed. There is a gate between the NSU-BA campus and the lake. NSU-BA has two entries and two exits.

The park is available for people of all ages. It opens Memorial Day Weekend and will stay open through Labor Day.
